2.6 miles in Ingleside Terraces

Dear Ingleside Terraces, it's good to see you again.

This neighborhood is like the first cousin to St. Francis Wood, just south of Ocean Avenue.

 It's home to:
1) large palm trees,

2) unique lawn ornamentation,

3) gorgeous landscaping,

4) the very first treehouse I've come across in San Francisco,

5) purple lawns, and

6) this thing.

Someone please tell me what I'm looking at; I'm terribly curious.

  1. It looks like a clumsy sort of Japanese lantern missing its finial. All proper Japanese lanterns have 5 parts: pedestal, base, light box, roof and finial. This one seems to be without a finial.

Or it could be a hood ornament for Fred Flintstone's car.

  2. I know this is an old blog but I can not believe you were in Ingleside Terraces and missed the one thing it is most well known for! The Sun Dial! Also, I live across the street from that cement lawn statue thing and behind you is a 100 yr old Monterey Cypress (my neighbor's). It is a beautiful majestic tree! So much about my hood you missed girl! It's one of the few neighborhoods where homes are not touching too!

    1. There's so much to see in the city, I know I've missed some good stuff. Fortunately, I make occasional trips to SF for more walking so I'm adding "find sundial" to my list for my next trip. Thanks for the tip! :)
