4.3 miles in the Tenderloin

Who has two thumbs and walked her 600th mile of San Francisco city streets?

And where better to take this momentous walk than in the smelliest neighborhood of the city, the Tenderloin? 

Don't worry.  I employed the buddy system by recruiting a few friends to join me.  Unfortunately, the route was not only dicey, it was also incredibly steep heading up Nob Hill so I now owe them.

Here's a piece of advice I impart after taking this walk:  If ever you find yourself wandering in the Loin, focus on the art, not the smell of pee:

The Warfield music hall on Market and Taylor is an institution.  It's not only a great venue, but the building itself is a work of art.

And the coolest art of all is the Walter Kitundo exhibit at the San Francisco Art Exchange on Geary and Taylor.  Check out this dude's work.  It verges on mind blowing. Seriously.

And when you've had enough of all the fun and excitement that awaits you in the Tenderloin, you can either head due north to Nob Hill, or meander back west toward the Civic Center neighborhood that houses the always gorgeous City Hall, the central library and the Asian Art Museum.  Then go home and take a disinfecting shower.
